GL revenue growth target of 10% this year Q4 net profit up to bt122 million Business moving forward by regaining credibility through new Board of Directors’ direction

Group Lease Public Company Limited has reported net profit of 122 million baht in the fourth quarter of 2017, attesting to the return of financial stability while also showing high potential for its microfinance business. The number of loan applicants has been exponentially increasing in Myanmar while the company continues its investment in Thailand as well as other countries, targeting overall growth of 10% this year. GL is highly confident about regaining credibility from investors due to the business potential and policies of the new Board of Directors.

Mr. Skol Harnsuthivarin, New Chairman of the Board of Directors of Group Lease Public Company Limited, said that in February this year, GL appointed several new Board of Directors members. The Board responsibilities include considering and approving visions, business strategies, business directions, policies, goals, guidelines, work plans, budget allocation for the company and its subsidiaries, overseeing the Chief Executive Officer’s administration and work performance in compliance with the company’s policies, and consistently monitoring the company’s business performance and budget.

“All of us, the new Board of Directors, share the same roles and responsibilities in overseeing and monitoring the company’s business operation with good corporate governance according to the policy regulated by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) as well as working in collaboration with the auditors for honest transparency” said Mr. Skol Harnsuthivarin.

Mr. Tatsuya Konoshita, Director and Chief Executive Officer of Group Lease Public Company Limited, said that in 2017, the company’s profit had continually been growing in the first 2 quarters before experiencing a drop in the third quarter due to exceptional items. However, in the fourth quarter, the company had no exceptional items and posted net profit of 122 million baht. Nonetheless, the overall annual performance shows losses due to the exceptional items including the provision in loan receivables and allowance for potential loss on investment as the company opted to show its financial statements in a conservative manner. If exceptional items are excluded, the company's 2017 net profit would have been 1,020 million baht.

“In 2018, the company has continued to focus on the core target group of customers in Thailand and other countries based on our “Digital Finance” business model. Our target groups are people from the grassroots level in many countries and our diverse country markets will allow us to outperform our competitors in the long run. In Thailand, it is expected that our income will be on the rise by 10% this year,” said Mr. Tatsuya Konoshita.

Mr. Alain Jean Pascal Dufes, Director and Chief Financial Officer of Group Lease Public Company Limited, said that “This year our company is prepared to expand our business in foreign markets, especially to retail loans market in Myanmar as there has been a higher number of loan applicants there since March 2017. The number of customers for the Group Loan increased from 10,000 to 78,000. Additionally, we have had 9,000 loan customers for motorcycle leasing whereas the number of applicants for the Entrepreneur Loan has also been growing. It is expected that in 2018 the total figures for all of these loans in Myanmar will increase to 160,000, 25,000, and 500 respectively.”

In addition, the company believes the progress of the legal proceedings will be favorable for the company. In February this year, the Central Bankruptcy Court granted GL’s request to enter into several transactions, including paying interest to some creditors, and the company can operate its business as usual without the Court’s approval. In this respect, the company would like to ensure shareholders that the company has higher asset values than liabilities and has great potential for growth and profit.

Accompanying the progress of the legal proceedings in Singapore, the Court for the first time heard both sides’ arguments together before considering a petition. Moreover, Group Lease Holdings Pte. Ltd. (GLH) in Singapore recently made a successful petition for the ex parte interim injunction order to be set aside and GLH is no longer under any restraints in relation to the use and/or dealings with its assets.

This has shown an enormous step and a positive signal toward Group Lease’s success.
