GC ประกาศทิศทางการดำเนินงานในปี 2563 สานต่อ ต่อยอด ภารกิจเสริมฐานปิโตรเคมีไทยให้แข็งแกร่ง ขยายธุรกิจสู่ระดับโลกอย่างยั่งยืน

     ดร.คงกระพัน อินทรแจ้ง ประธานเจ้าหน้าที่บริหาร (CEO) บริษัท พีทีที โกลบอล เคมิคอล จำกัด (มหาชน) หรือ GC กล่าวว่า GC ประกาศทิศทางการดำเนินงานของบริษัทฯ ในปี 2563 โดยยึดหลักนโยบาย “สานต่อ ต่อยอด” ผ่านกลยุทธ์ 3 Steps: Step Change-Step Out- Step Up เพื่อมุ่งสู่การเป็นผู้นำในธุรกิจเคมีภัณฑ์ระดับสากล เพื่อสร้างสรรค์คุณภาพชีวิต พร้อมดำเนินธุรกิจตามหลักการ “GC Circular Living”  ไลฟ์สไตล์เปลี่ยนโลก ขับเคลื่อนธุรกิจด้วยความยั่งยืน

• • Step Change : สานต่อสร้างบ้านให้แข็งแรง GC Group ก้าวสู่การเป็นผู้นำด้วยการสานต่อเพิ่มขีดความสามารถในการแข่งขันให้กับฐานการผลิตปัจจุบันของบริษัทฯ ที่มาบตาพุด จังหวัดระยอง โดยเพิ่มประสิทธิภาพการผลิต เพิ่ม Plant Reliability ให้อยู่ในระดับ 1st Quartile และ ต่อยอดสร้างมูลค่าเพิ่มให้กับธุรกิจด้วยการขยายเข้าสู่ผลิตภัณฑ์ปลายน้ำและ High Value Business (HVB) รวมถึงการขยายตลาดในภูมิภาคเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ รวมทั้งเดินหน้าโครงการลงทุนต่าง ๆ ตามแผนที่วางไว้ เพื่อสร้างความแข็งแกร่งในระดับภูมิภาค
• • Step Out: สานต่อการขยายฐานธุรกิจแห่งที่ 2 (Second Home Base) ซึ่งมีศักยภาพในการแข่งขันด้านวัตถุดิบหรือการเติบโตของตลาด อาทิ การศึกษาโครงการลงทุนปิโตรเคมีคอมเพล็กซ์ในสหรัฐฯ ที่มีศักยภาพและความพร้อมด้านวัตถุดิบ (Feedstock) และต่อยอดเข้าสู่ธุรกิจใหม่ ๆ ด้วย Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) สร้างการเติบโตแบบก้าวกระโดด รวมทั้งการประสานการทำงานร่วมกัน (Synergy) ระหว่าง PTT Group
• • Step Up: สานต่อแนวคิดการเติบโตอย่างยั่งยืน ตามหลักการเศรษฐกิจหมุนเวียน (Circular Economy) ซึ่ง GC ได้ยึดถือเป็นแนวทางในการดำเนินธุรกิจและส่งเสริมให้นำไปปรับใช้ในชีวิตประจำวันตามแนวคิด GC Circular Living โดยคำนึงถึงสิ่งแวดล้อมและความรับผิดชอบต่อสังคม เพื่อความยั่งยืนสูงสุด และต่อยอดบูรณาการให้เกิดความยั่งยืน (Sustainability) ในทุกธุรกิจและกระบวนการของบริษัทฯ GC ได้ร่วมกับองค์กรพันธมิตรทั้งภาครัฐและเอกชน ผสานการทำงานร่วมกัน เช่น โครงการคุ้งบางกะเจ้าโมเดล โครงการเชียงรายโมเดล โครงการความร่วมมือกับกรมอุทยานแห่งชาติ สัตว์ป่า และพันธุ์พืช โครงการ Waste this Way ในงานฟุตบอลประเพณี จุฬา-ธรรมศาสตร์ ครั้งที่ 74 และโครงการทดสอบและพัฒนาต่อยอดเครื่องบำบัดอากาศที่มีมลพิษและฝุ่นขนาดเล็ก PM 2.5 เป็นต้น

ผลการดำเนินงานปี 2562

      สำหรับ ผลประกอบการในปี 2562 GC มีรายได้จากการขายรวม 409,688 ล้านบาท ปรับตัวลดลงร้อยละ 21 จากปีก่อนหน้า และมีกำไรสุทธิ 11,682 ล้านบาท ปรับตัวลดลงร้อยละ 71 โดยมีปัจจัยหลักมาจากระดับราคาผลิตภัณฑ์เฉลี่ยที่ปรับตัวลดลง ซึ่งเป็นผลจากการชะลอตัวของเศรษฐกิจโลกและผลกระทบจากประเด็นสงครามการค้าระหว่างประเทศสหรัฐอเมริกาและประเทศจีน และปริมาณการขายที่ลดลงเนื่องจากมีการปิดซ่อมบำรุงตามแผนของหน่วยผลิตหลักในธุรกิจอะโรเมติกส์และธุรกิจโรงกลั่นน้ำมัน ประกอบกับค่าเงินบาทที่แข็งค่าอย่างต่อเนื่องในปีที่ผ่านมา

ความก้าวหน้าโครงการลงทุนในปี 2563

      GC มีการขยายธุรกิจเพื่อต่อยอดโครงการลงทุนและสร้างมูลค่าเพิ่มให้แก่อุตสาหกรรมปิโตรเคมีและเคมีภัณฑ์อย่างต่อเนื่อง สอดคล้องกับนโยบายของภาครัฐในการส่งเสริมการลงทุนอุตสาหกรรมในบริเวณพื้นที่เขตพัฒนาพิเศษภาคตะวันออก หรือ EEC โดยปัจจุบันมีการลงทุนในโครงการหลักที่ตอบสนองนโยบาย New S-Curve ของภาครัฐ มีมูลค่าการลงทุนกว่า 100,000 ล้านบาท

       โครงการปรับปรุงประสิทธิภาพการผลิต Olefins Reconfiguration Project (ORP) เป็นการขยายกำลังการผลิตผ่านการลงทุนใน Naphtha Cracker  เพิ่มมูลค่าให้กับวัตถุดิบของบริษัทฯ  และต่อยอดธุรกิจปลายน้ำในอนาคตด้วยกำลังการผลิตเอทิลีน 500,000 ตันและโพรพิลีน 250,000 ตัน ขณะนี้อยู่ในระหว่างการก่อสร้าง โดยคืบหน้าไปแล้ว 85 % คาดว่าจะเริ่มผลิตเชิงพาณิชย์ได้ในช่วงไตรมาส 4 ปี 2563 มูลค่าโครงการประมาณ 36,000 ล้านบาท

       โครงการโพรพิลีนออกไซด์ (Propylene Oxide :PO) และ โครงการโพลีออลส์ (Polyols) เพื่อผลิตโพรพิลีน ออกไซด์ (PO) 200,000 ตันต่อปี และผลิตภัณฑ์โพลีออลส์ (Polyols) 130,000 ตันต่อปี มีมูลค่าโครงการประมาณ 34,000 ล้านบาท โดยทั้ง 2 โครงการเป็นการต่อยอดผลิตภัณฑ์โพรพิลีนไปสู่ผลิตภัณฑ์ปลายทางสายโพลียูรีเทน (Polyurethane) ซึ่งเป็นหนึ่งในกลยุทธ์การเข้าสู่ตลาดผลิตภัณฑ์ High Value Business (HVB) ขณะนี้อยู่ระหว่างการก่อสร้าง คืบหน้าไปแล้ว 85 % คาดว่าจะเริ่มผลิตเชิงพาณิชย์ได้ในช่วงไตรมาสที่ 3 ปี 2563

        โครงการร่วมลงทุนในธุรกิจเคมีภัณฑ์ชนิดพิเศษ ดำเนินการผลิตผลิตภัณฑ์พลาสติกวิศวกรรมชั้นสูงใน 2 โครงการ ได้แก่  PA9T 13,000 ตัน/ปี และ HSBC 16,000 ตัน/ปี คาดว่าจะแล้วเสร็จในปี 2565 สอดคล้องกับทิศทางการดำเนินธุรกิจของบริษัทฯ ที่ต้องการขยายธุรกิจปิโตรเคมีขั้นปลายเกรดพิเศษ เพื่อรองรับความต้องการของอุตสาหกรรมยานยนต์ (Automotive) และ เครื่องใช้ไฟฟ้าและอิเล็กทรอนิกส์ (E&E) ซึ่งดำเนินงานโดยบริษัท คุราเร่ จีซี แอดวานซ์ แมททีเรียลส์ จำกัด (KGC) มูลค่าโครงการประมาณ 15,000 ล้านบาท

        โครงการขยายกำลังการผลิตเม็ดพลาสติกโพลิเอทิลีนเทเรฟเทเลท (Polyethylene Terephtalate: PET)

        ขยายการผลิต PET จาก 147,000 ตันต่อปี เป็น 200,000 ตันต่อปี คาดว่าจะเริ่มผลิตเชิงพาณิชย์ในช่วงครึ่งปีแรกของปี 2564  

โครงการ HMC PP Line Expansion

        กำลังการผลิต เม็ดพลาสติกโพลิโพรพิลีน 250,000 ตันต่อปี คาดว่าจะเริ่มผลิตเชิงพาณิชย์ในช่วงครึ่งปีหลังของปี 2565

        โครงการพลาสติกรีไซเคิล เป็นส่วนหนึ่งของแนวทาง GC Circular Living โดยมีวัตถุประสงค์ในการนำบรรจุภัณฑ์ขวดพลาสติกที่ใช้แล้ว มาเป็นวัตถุดิบในกระบวนการรีไซเคิล (Recycle)ได้เม็ดพลาสติกคุณภาพสูงระดับ Food-Grade และ Packaging-Grade

• • ร่วมมือกับพันธมิตร แอลพลา (ALPLA) ผู้เชี่ยวชาญด้านการผลิตเม็ดพลาสติกรีไซเคิลคุณภาพสูงระดับโลก ปฏิวัติการใช้ทรัพยากรหมุนเวียนอย่างคุ้มค่าและยั่งยืน
• • ตั้งบริษัทร่วมทุน บริษัท เอ็นวิคโค จำกัด (ENVICCO Limited) ที่นิคมอุตสาหกรรมเอเชีย มาบตาพุด จังหวัดระยอง เพื่อผลิตเม็ดพลาสติกหมุนเวียนคุณภาพสูง ชนิด rPET ขนาด 30,000 ตันต่อปี และ rHDPE ขนาด 15,000 ตันต่อปี จะเริ่มก่อสร้างได้ในต้นปี 2563 และคาดว่าจะเริ่มผลิตเชิงพาณิชย์ในปี 2564 มูลค่าโครงการประมาณ 2,000 ล้านบาท

โครงการศึกษาการลงทุนปิโตรเคมีคอมเพล็กซ์ในสหรัฐฯ อยู่ในระหว่างการศึกษาโครงการ US Petrochemical Complex โดยมีเป้าหมายเพื่อเป็น Second Home Base ของบริษัทฯ ซึ่งโครงการดังกล่าวมีความได้เปรียบด้านความสามารถในการแข่งขันทางด้านวัตถุดิบ โดยมีแหล่งวัตถุดิบอีเทน (Ethane) ทำให้มีต้นทุนต่ำ คาดว่าในช่วงกลางปี 2563 จะได้ผลสรุปเพื่อตัดสินใจในการดำเนินโครงการดังกล่าว ทั้งนี้ GC อยู่ในระหว่างการพิจารณาเงื่อนไขต่างๆ ของโครงการ

ลด Single-use plastics

     ดร.คงกระพัน กล่าวถึงมาตรการที่จีนจะแบนพลาสติก นั้น ไม่ส่งผลกระทบต่อการขายผลิตภัณฑ์ของ GC เนื่องจาก GC มีเป้าหมายที่จะยกเลิกการผลิต HDPE Film for Single-use plastics ให้หมดภายในปี 2565  และวางแผนขยายตลาดในกลุ่มผลิตภัณฑ์ที่มีมูลค่าเพิ่ม (High Value Product: HVP) ในช่วงปี 2565-2568 เพิ่มขึ้น เพื่อรองรับความต้องการในตลาดเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ (SEA) โดยเฉพาะอย่างยิ่งในภูมิภาค CLMV ที่มียอดขายมากกว่า 250,000 ตันต่อปี สำหรับตลาดจีนนั้น ในปี 2562 GC มียอดขายเม็ดพลาสติก  โพลิเอทิลีน (PE) ในตลาดจีนประมาณ 620,000 ตันต่อปีจำนวนนี้เป็น HDPE ประมาณ 186,000 ตันต่อปี โดยเป็น HDPE Film ประมาณ 76,000 ตันต่อปี GC ได้จัดแผนการลด HDPE Film for single use ตั้งแต่ปี 2561 

Circular Economy in Action

สิ่งที่ GC มุ่งเน้นเพื่อสร้างความยั่งยืนมี 2 ประเด็นหลัก คือ 1) การลดก๊าซเรือนกระจก ซึ่งมีการดำเนินการอย่างต่อเนื่องมาโดยตลอด 2) การนำหลักเศรษฐกิจหมุนเวียน (Circular Economy) มาปรับใช้ ซึ่งครอบคลุมใน 3 ส่วนหลักได้แก่

• • Smart Operating: สร้างธุรกิจรูปแบบใหม่ที่นำเทคโนโลยีมาใช้ในการพัฒนาและปรับปรุงกระบวนการผลิต เพื่อช่วยลดการใช้ทรัพยากรธรรมชาติและนำมาหมุนเวียนอย่างมีประสิทธิภาพสูงสุด
• • Responsible Caring: เป็นการพัฒนา ออกแบบผลิตภัณฑ์ให้มีความยั่งยืน เพื่อลดการใช้ทรัพยากรและเป็นมิตรต่อสิ่งแวดล้อม และเกิดประสิทธิภาพการใช้งานยาวนานมากที่สุด โดยไม่ผลิตสิ่งที่ใช้แล้วทิ้ง
• • Loop Connecting: เพิ่มพลังความร่วมมือกับผู้มีส่วนได้เสีย และเชื่อมต่อธุรกิจให้ครบวงจร โดยขยายความร่วมมือกับภาคส่วนต่างๆ ในการบริหารจัดการสิ่งแวดล้อมในชุมชน และเชื่อมต่อธุรกิจให้ครบวงจรในโครงการ Upcycling by GC อาทิ โครงการเพื่อการอนุรักษ์และพัฒนาพื้นที่คุ้งบางกะเจ้า โดย GC สนับสนุนในด้านการจัดการขยะ และยังได้ร่วมกับวัดจากแดงในการผลิตจีวรจากพลาสติกรีไซเคิล โครงการธนาคารทิ้ง-ไซเคิล (ThinkCycle Bank) โครงการ Waste This Way ร่วมจัดการขยะในงานฟุตบอลประเพณีจุฬา-ธรรมศาสตร์ ครั้งที่ 74 สามารถลดก๊าซเรือนกระจกได้จำนวน 18,121 กิโลกรัม เทียบเท่าการปลูกต้นไม้ จำนวน 2,013 ต้น โครงการทดสอบและพัฒนาต่อยอดเครื่องบำบัดอากาศที่มีมลพิษและฝุ่นขนาดเล็ก PM 2.5 ที่ได้ลงนามบันทึกความเข้าใจความร่วมมือ (MOU) กับมูลนิธิราชประชานุเคราะห์ ในพระบรมราชูปถัมภ์ เพื่อช่วยลดปัญหามลพิษทางอากาศให้กับประชาชน เป็นต้น

      GC มุ่งมั่นในการผลิตเคมีภัณฑ์ที่เป็นมิตรต่อสิ่งแวดล้อม ซึ่งมีเป้าหมายชัดเจนในด้านการลดปริมาณการปล่อยก๊าซเรือนกระจก (Greenhouse Gas Emission) จากกระบวนการผลิตของบริษัทฯ โดยตั้งเป้าหมายลดการปล่อยก๊าซเรือนกระจกลง 20% ใน 10 ปีข้างหน้า (ปี 2573) เพื่อร่วมเป็นส่วนหนึ่งในการลดปัญหาภาวะโลกร้อน สอดคล้องกับเป้าหมายการลดก๊าซเรือนกระจกของประเทศไทย และยังตั้งเป้าหมายลดการปล่อยก๊าซเรือนกระจกลง 52% ภายในปี 2593 เพื่อสนับสนุนเป้าหมายของโลกในการควบคุมอุณหภูมิโลกไม่ให้เพิ่มขึ้นเกิน 2 องศาเซลเซียส

       ผลิตภัณฑ์ที่ GC ดำเนินการผลิต ได้รับการรับรองเครื่องหมาย Carbon Footprint และ Carbon Footprint Reduction จาก องค์การก๊าซเรือนกระจก (TGO) อย่างต่อเนื่องตั้งแต่ปี 2554 จนถึงปัจจุบัน รวมทั้ง GC มีการวางเป้าหมายที่จะมีผลิตภัณฑ์เคมีภัณฑ์ชนิดพิเศษและผลิตภัณฑ์เคมีเพื่อสิ่งแวดล้อม (Performance & Green Chemicals) เพิ่มเป็น 30% ภายในปี 2573 และยกเลิกการผลิตเม็ดพลาสติกที่ใช้ครั้งเดียวทิ้งใน 5 ปีข้างหน้าต่อไป นอกจากนี้ GC ยังได้รับการจัดอันดับเป็นสมาชิกในกลุ่มดัชนีความยั่งยืนดาวโจนส์ (Dow Jones Sustainability Indices) หรือ DJSI ปี 2019 โดยได้รับคะแนนสูงสุดเป็นอันดับ 1 ของโลกด้านการพัฒนาอย่างยั่งยืน ด้วย Percentile 100 และอยู่ในระดับ Top 10 ของ DJSI World และ Emerging Markets ในกลุ่มเคมีภัณฑ์ (Chemical Sector) ต่อเนื่องเป็นปีที่ 7

GC Announces Its Operational Direction for 2020, Continuing to Strengthen the Thai Petrochemical Sector and Expand into A Sustainable Global Business

         Dr.Kongkrapan Intarajang, Chief Executive Officer of PTT Global Chemical Public Company Limited, or GC, said that the company has unveiled its operational framework for 2020 in line with its “Continue and Enhance” policy that involves three strategic steps: Step Change, Step Out, and Step Up. This strategy will support GC to become a leading petrochemical company at the global level while improving people’s quality of life, by operating based on the principle of GC Circular Living as a lifestyle that changes the world, and becoming a more sustainable business.

The three strategic steps are:

• • Step Change: Continuing to boost the company’s internal strengths as GC Group solidifies its leadership position by improving the efficiency of its current manufacturing base located in Map Ta Phut in Rayong province. This includes enhanced productivity, improved plant reliability using first quartile equipment coverage levels, and adding more value to its business by expanding into downstream products and high-value businesses, while continuing market expansion in Southeast Asia as well as designated investment projects to increase regional competitiveness.
• • Step Out: Develop a second home base of operations to boost GC’s competitive position in terms of feedstock and market growth, such as the US Petrochemical Complex currently undergoing a feasibility study, while also tapping into new businesses through mergers and acquisitions or mergers of equals to accelerate the shift to growth and build synergies among PTT Group subsidiaries.
• • Step Up: GC was ranked number 1 in the 2019 Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI) in the petrochemical sector. The company believes it’s important to continue pursuing comprehensive and sustainable growth, especially within the Circular Economy framework, to deliver outstanding performance aligned with environmental awareness and social responsibility while enhancing sustainability for all the company’s businesses and operations. GC and its partners from both the public and private sectors teamed up on a number of collaborative projects, such as the “Khung Bang Kachao Model”; the “Chiang Rai Model,” which is a collaborative project with the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation; the “Waste This Way” initiative at the 74th Chulalongkorn–Thammasat Traditional Football Match; and a development project testing air purifying machines to address pollution, specifically PM2.5 particulate matter.

GC’s performance in 2019

     GC had total revenue of 409,688 million baht in 2019, a decrease of 21% from the previous year, with a net profit of 11,682 million baht, a decrease of 71% from the previous year, largely due to a drop in average product prices and lower sales volumes. Average product prices decreased due to concerns about the global economic impact of US-China trade tensions throughout the year, while total sales volumes decreased because of the planned maintenance of major business units including the Aromatics and Refinery units, as well as the Thai baht’s sustained strength throughout the year.

Update on GC’s Investment Projects in 2020

       GC is pursuing investment projects that will add value to the petrochemical industry in line with the government’s New S-Curve policy to support the development of the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC). At present, GC has invested in projects worth over 100,000 million baht including:

       The Olefins Reconfiguration Project (ORP), which will boost GC’s production capacity through an investment in a naphtha cracker, increasing the value of the company’s existing raw materials and its future downstream business. The project has an ethylene production capacity of 500,000 tons annually and propylene production capacity of 250,000 tons annually. Both production facilities, which are currently under construction, are scheduled for commercial operations starting in the third quarter of 2020. This project is valued at roughly 36,000 million baht.

      The Propylene Oxide (PO) and the Polyols Projects will produce 200,000 tons of PO annually and 130,000 tons of polyether polyols annually. The PO and Polyols Projects are each valued at around 34,000 million baht. Both projects will expand from propylene to downstream polyurethane products, which is one of the company’s strategies to enter high-value businesses. Both projects are under construction and scheduled for commercial operations starting in the third quarter of 2020.

      The Performance Chemicals Business Investment Project includes the production of advanced plastic products through the High-Heat Resistant Polyamide-9T (PA9T) project with a capacity of 13,000 tons/year and the Hydrogenated Styrenic Block Co-Polymer (HSBC) project with a capacity of 16,000 tons/year. Both projects are expected to be completed by 2022, and adhere to GC’s strategic direction of expanding into performance and specialty chemicals in its downstream petrochemicals business to increase the company’s presence in the automotive and electrical & electronics (E&E) sectors. The project, operated by Kuraray GC Advanced Materials Co., Ltd. (KGC), is valued at roughly 15,000 million baht.

       The Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) Production Expansion Project will increase the company’s PET production capacity from 120,000 to 194,000 tons/year, and is expected to commence commercial production in the first half of 2021.

      The HMC PP Line Expansion Project will increase polypropylene (PP) production capacity to 220,000 tons/year, and is expected to commence commercial operations starting in the second half of 2022.

       The Plastic Recycling Project, which is part of GC Circular Living concept that is in line with the principles of the Circular Economy, aims to recycle discarded plastic bottles into high-quality food grade and packaging grade plastic resins through a partnership with ALPLA, a global recycler and high-quality plastic packaging solutions provider that is revolutionizing the efficient and sustainable use of resources. ENVICCO Limited, GC and APLPA’s joint venture company, is located in Asia Industrial Estate in Map Ta Phut, Rayong province. It will produce 30,000 tons/year of recycled PET (rPET) and 15,000 tons/year of recycled HDPE (rHDPE) plastic resins. Construction of the facility is set to begin in early 2020 and it is scheduled to start commercial operations in 2021. The project has a value of roughly 2,000 million baht.

        The Petrochemical Complex Project in the United States is undergoing a feasibility study. This project aims to be GC’s second base of operations, increasing the company’s competitiveness by providing an important source of ethane, leading to a significant cost advantage. The study is expected to be concluded by mid-2020. GC is evaluating conditions for the construction contract and funding sources.

Reducing Single-use Plastics

       Dr. Kongkrapan noted that GC will not be affected by China’s ban on plastics as the company will cease production of HDPE film for single-use shopping bags by 2022, while conducting a market expansion of high-value products (HVPs) from 2022 to 2025 to meet increasing demand in Southeast Asia, particularly in the CLMV market, which accounts for over 250,000 tons/year in sales.

        For the Chinese market, GC has total sales of polyethylene (PE) of 620,000 tons/year in 2019. The total sales is accounted for HDPE for 186,000 tons/year, in which film-grade HDPE is accounted for only 76,000 tons/year. GC has made plans to reduce HDPE-film for single-use since 2018.

       GC supports its sustainability framework by focusing on continuing to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and on integrating the principles of the Circular Economy into its business through the following three mechanisms:

• • Responsible Care: Improving and designing sustainable products, aiming for resource efficiency, while discontinuing production of single-use plastics.
• • Loop Connecting: Extending collaborations with stakeholders, especially those involved in resource management in communities, and integrating connections with businesses for projects to Upcycle Plastic Waste. This includes the Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) project; the Wat Chakdaeng (OUR Khung BangKachao) project; the ThinkCycle Bank project; the Waste This Way project in partnership with the 74th Chulalongkorn–Thammasat Traditional Football Match, which achieved GHG emissions reduction of 18,121 kilograms, or the equivalent of planting 2.013 trees; and the Air Purifying Machines development and testing project to mitigate pollution and PM 2.5 particulate matter, for which a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between GC and the Rajaprajanugroh Foundation under Royal Patronage.

        GC is committed to providing environmentally-friendly chemical products and has a goal of reducing GHG emissions generated by its manufacturing processes by 20% over the next decade and by 52% by 2050. This effort supports Thailand’s GHG emissions reduction goals as well as global efforts underway to deal with climate change and limiting future temperature increases to not over two degrees Celsius.

          GC’s products have been certified by the Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization (TGO) for their reduced carbon footprint since 2011. The company plans to increase production of its performance chemicals and green chemical products by 30% by 2030, and discontinue production of single-use plastics over the next five years. In addition, GC was recently rated number one in the world for sustainability in the 2019 Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI), achieving a 100th percentile ranking. The company was also ranked among the top 10 companies in the chemicals sector for the DJSI World and DJSI Emerging Markets Indexes for the seventh consecutive year.
